Harriet's Alter Ego

August 16th at Harriets Alter Ego was lovely,There was live entertainment, free food And wonderful people. I got a chance to have nice conversation with a young black Fashion stylist and Personality named Treystylez .He has a label called Lassiez Faire and from what he told me it sounds like it has a very promising future in the world Fashion. Jerijah ,Trey and myself spoke the majority of the night outside the boutique only going in to see Mickey facts perform. He was great! as always his energy was through the roof. It's always a pleasure to see him live but it was especially exciting because of the intimate setting Harriet's Alter ego provided to his performance. He interacted with the crowd and photogs and you can tell he was just having a good time.He performed a new song that he said he wanted to colab with Bilal on but until then He sang it and he didn't sound half bad {lol} Great fun! I really wanted to experience Raye6. I didn't get the chance to see her but i definately heard her and she sound amazing! Her look was very Edgy Loved it.What I also loved was meeting Onician, If you all can remember me talking about Janelle Monae throwing my friends shoes at Summer stage He was the guy that brought them back to us.He's really cool people and he's doing a lot for himself and others.

Condoms

With STD's spreading at alarming rate you'd think that people might be trying to make an effort to be more safe about this whole sex thing.Guess again Statistics say that Only 19% of women in America use condoms
WHAT????
I'm glad that Marc Jacobs decided to start manufacturing condoms that percentage might jump up to atleast 25% by the end of this year because the girls love there labels .
But it seems like the ladies were only using condoms for things like this....

Ladies
get real , Stop making dresses with condoms and start using them to protect yourself again.

Metropolis

Janelle Monae's first suite dropped this past week .My friend Mr.West called me told me he bought it and quite simply said " 7... 7 tracks Jazzmin".. I fell over laughing I told him to come over so that we could listen to it together and after listening we realized it was actually only 5 tracks because two of the tracks listed were merely intros and interludes. It's only the first suite right? I mean it was still dope I just have been a longtime fan so I have heard all the songs on the album more then a hand full of times,I still love her can't wait for the next one to drop.I just recently went to see her perform we were front row she cam out to crowd surf and we were right there!then on her way back to the stage she approaches our blanket on which my friend Caliel Cartel of Urban-Filth had his sneakers lying she bent down to pick them up and proceeded to throw them over head into the crowd!!!
WE GAGGED!!!!!
it was quite possibly the most hilarious moment of our summer!
she's a lunatic But go support her and by her album.

To be or Not to be ?

The question thats plaguing me right now is
To Be or not to be... Natural that is
lol
I know it sounds shallow but this truly stressing me out. Im debating on weather or not I should chop my hair off again or to " Throw some weave on that b****" {lol}
When the summer started I wanted some long Braids And My Alias for the summer would have been Rapunzel!Lmao
Then I wanted an Afro..... Then I wanted A short cut again..... And then I was just like why not go get Doubie and rock that shit for the remainder of the summer but my problem is I get tired of seeing the same hair every morning when I look in the mirror .When I go out I Like to transform from head to toe! In this day and age Hairs is as much of an accessory as a Bracelet thats why I didn't want the braids they limited me, the afro would have taken too long to grow out by then I probably would have wanted something new and the Doubie was too.... blah! but the one hairstyle I do like and can see my self keeping maintaining and getting the versatility I need from is my short sort of pixie curl
I can do so much to it!
when I start getting tired of it I can color it, I can let it grow out a little and restyle it ,I can add a few extensions to give length or I can even go to the barber shop and get a dizzy on the side!
YES!
I think that's what I'm going to do
See sometimes talking something out makes making the decision so much easier!
thanks for reading

Nuyorican

Me and the cronies Mr.west and The Soho Nocturne hit the streets of New york the other night I believe it was August 13th to go to the Nuyorican poetry Cafe.I'd been trying to get there for about two years, I remember it was on my 17th birthday I'd heard so much about it and I was really interested in going but you know how things just don't happen? yeah well thats what happened lol Anyway I finally got the chance On the the 13th and It was So good! the poetry was beautiful and unapologetic a few of the lines are still swirling around my brain . They were all so amazing a few of which I got a chance to speak to a little after the show

Bintu

They were all extremely cool people a lot of them are apart this group called Urban Word and they were definately representing that night. There was a new performer up on stage and her name was Bintu she performed a poem that had me and my friends yelling YES! at the stage snapping and cracking up! She had a line in her poem " Fuck My Soul" we couldn't stop laughing because we were all suppose to right 4 different poems entitled "fuck my soul" and have our own little slam one night {lol} so when we heard her say it we lived!
She's mad cool and we wish her the best of luck i
n all her future endeavors. We spoke to another amazing poet by the name of Janine -Brave ,she got on the stage and made it seem as though it was too small. Her words were So strong and Sincere , Janine informed us that the next time she'd be performing was that friday which is today! So if the rain lets up I'm so in there and I strongly urge you guys to come out if you can. It's the Nuyorican Poetry Cafe Located on 236 east 3rd {between aves B and C} here's the site:

Jill Scott

I wasn't able to attend Wingate this past Monday, which is a pity because i missed the opportunity to see one of the most talented and legendary entertainers of our day perform.
I've been a fan of this women since
way back in 2000 when she debuted on One of The Roots tracks entitled " You got me". She went on to drop her own album that very same year entitled " Who is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds volume 1. Yes ,Yes ,Yall Jill Scott performed for free in Brooklyn August 11th yes for free. And i couldn't even afford that. It's just been one of those weeks yall.
I know yall are like " yo jazz it was free, why didn't you go" and Imma tell yall that I live in Jersey and to get to Brooklyn cost about 8 dollars not including food and a little emergency doe And this hurts to say but I only had 75 cents to my name.

Brooklyn

Park Slope or Williamsburg or Bed stuy they say it's like the new Manhattan (lol)
I'm not quite sure what area Iwant to be in but i know i want to be there. I love the vibe that Brooklyn has every time I go there it feels like it's hugging me and every time I leave it feels like I shouldn't be. I've been to a lot of different events there this summer and the culture it holds is out of this world , I love it! When i go to different events and the dj or host screams " BROOKLYN MAKE SOME NOISE!" I scream lol
If Brooklyn was personified we'd be distant lovers and I'd dedicate him this song

Rock the bellz

Yeah Rock the bellz was yesterday and i wasn't there!
That really sucks!
the Pharcyde reunited for this tour and i didn't even get to see them!
Argh!
I heard it was amazing though (like i new it would be) I'll just watch it on youtube.
People tell me about it!

We break the dawn

Omg yall
Me and my friends went out July 30th to Oveous's love show @ love and missed the last bus back home. Now it was only 2:30 or something when we left the club and the last bus came at 1:15 so we had mad time to kill! We ended up getting something to eat walking and talking and at around 3:30 we sat on a bench by Da Slivana and just talking about the performers and how cool the whole event was .Until 4:30 then we caught the train and caught our bus home.It was cool We broke dawn and didn't even feel it. August2nd was a totally different story! our plans were to go to Yume for the loft party they were having we were supposed to be there before 12 so we'd get in free but me and Tubb didn't get there until 12:30 or something! and we had to pay Here's the gagger the poeple that came in before us and after didn't have to pay! So we were in the party like (?).And after sitting in the party for 5 minutes Jay,Tubb and I got our money back and bounced! But we didn't have any place to go so we bumped into one of the 718 bodega girls and asked her if she new of anything cute for the night She did a lot to try to found out for us She was very nice for that.Unfortunately there was NOTHING going on for the night. So we walked over to Macdonald's but we couldn't order anything unless we walked threw the drive threw! So we did LMAO but they wouldn't take our order. So we walked back to the front and Jay called Tenacia to see what she was up to whle he did hat these two guys came over to us with the same dilemma we had with the Mickey D's and we were just lafifng talking about that and they invited us to the club up the block We went and then they left to go get food.We stayed and danced until about 3:30 the dj was dope! but we had to get meet up with our friend Caliel who was in the village so long story short we met with him got food and ended up right back at our bench on Houston We broke dawn yet again! but this time we had to wiat to 7:57 to catch the first bus back home !
Omg it was so bad I think i zonked out on the bench for about 20 minutes then I woke up and we walked the streets of soho in awe of how empty it was.It was crazy but I got some good pictures out of it after all we walked every street we caught the train and went home. I got home at 8:00 and checked my Myspace and uploaded the pictures from our night/morning then i went to sleep. At 9:50 Jay and Caliel were in my room with Macdonald's McGriddle's talking about " Get ready so we can go See Janelle Monae" I was half sleep like" FUCK HER I NEED SLEEP!" LMAO
I was so sleepy! but after I ate the McGriddle i woke up got dressed and went anyway. It was so much fun we were from row! She gave such A great performance, She rowed surfed and on Then on her back to the stage she picked up Caliel's sneakers and threw them Out into the crowd LMAO!!!!!! He gagged Like" OMG SHE THREW MY SNEAKERS!" I was laffing so hard! But in like 5 minutes this guy gave them back to him. It was great!
enjoy the flicks!

Hand Sanitizer

I've been riding the trains for quite sometime now and as a result I've grown a REDICULOUS case of germaphobia. It all started, I'd say a year ago while taking a ride on the A.I was just sitting in the car watching people get on and off Laughing Talking enjoying the style when all of sudden this guy picked his noise and flicked his booger, Now thats not the problem cuz everyone does that but He got up and grabbed one of the subway bars! and at the next stop left. Now this got me thinkign about all the people that get on and off the train and all there nasty little habits.I started thinking about how many snotty subway bars I've touched and just the thought Made me cringe.I began to pay much closer attention to everyone that came on and off the train and lets just say the longer and longer I stayed on the train the more anxious i was to get off . Just thinking about how many subway bums had sat in the seat I was sitting in was too much.So I found a napkin in my purse stood up and held on to the bar with my napkin.I felt so much better and my stop was next So you can imagine my joy,But then I realized how many germs were still around me! AAAAHHHH.

The subway columns you lean against when your tired at 4 o'clock in the morning,

The Metro card Machines EVERYTHING! I was so mad i didn't have hand sanitizer!
So I'd say from that week on I've carried hand sanitizer and or baby wipes.

yes it is just that serious.
I told my friends about it my experience in the subway and NOW they all have a growing case of germaphobia and two of them carry hand sanitizer.lol
I mean cuz if you think about it the next epidemic could be waiting for you on the subway train!
With all the Travelers Bums And Gross people anything could happen.
I'm not trying to take the chance.

Anyway another thing I've noticed is that when your in a public place and 1 person coughs Everyone will start coughing!
It's insane
Now (for Fun) Me and my friends will just cough and see how many people will start coughing!
That started when Me and my dance class went to see The color purple on Broadway and somebody behind me coughed and I got to thinking "how many germs are sitting on my neck right now" lol
So the guy must have had a cold or something because he kept coughing and every time he coughed I'd groan so my friend Jay starting taking notice and was like "what the hell is wrong with you" I was like "this guy keeps coughing behind me it's grossing me out " so then he started to take notice and He would just laugh at me every time it happened( like a good friend)I was like " Jay you need to stop cuz whatever he coughing on me You bound to get and because we sitting next each other !"
Then he stopped , Then I was like " And just listen every time he coughs 20 other people cough !"
and sure nuff it was like the whole theater was coughing!
We could only laugh!
and thats how that became our joke.
But The moral to this story is
PEOPLE CARRY HAND SANITIZER!!!!!
